The wraps are off, the curtains are raised, the latest Micromax IN smartphone will set the market ablaze. This is the level of excitement right now here at InByMicromax Blog. The IN 2b is a beast of a smartphone that will shake the budget smartphone market for what it offers at an affordable price point. Read the full post below to know every little detail about the IN 2b which Micromax likes to call the No Hang Phone for the right reasons.
Focus on Performance
Micromax dared and leaped to offer the best performance on a budget smartphone. With the IN 2b, Micromax went against the trend, and instead of using the usual MediaTek or Snapdragon SOC’s they opted for a UNISOC T610 Octa-Core processor which offers unmatched performance at this price point. UNISOC is not as well known as Snapdragon or MediaTek but that helped Micromax to get a powerful processor for a better price to use in the IN 2b. Just because this processor brand is not well known in the market doesn’t mean they are of inferior quality. So, I suggest you, readers, not go by what some influencers might say against it. At one point in time just a few years back even MediaTek processors had a bad image but they are the most popular ones now in the mid-range segment. The same might happen with UNISOC once it starts going mainstream and will be seen on more phones. For now, it gives me a feeling that Micromax is the only one trying to fix the biggest hurdle of budget smartphones i.e lagging phones in the budget price segment.
Micromax shared a slide that shows IN 2b achieved the AnTuTu score of 176847 which is 45% better when compared to the closest score of a competitor smartphone. This shows at least on paper that Micromax IN 2b will offer good performance for the price and won’t give lagging issues so easily. As per Micromax, the gaming performance of the phone is also enhanced by 30% thanks to the ARM Mali G52 GPU. The gaming performance on the IN 2b should be better compared to the phones in this price segment. However, I won’t recommend buying this phone only for gaming unless you are on a tight budget and this should do the job. Micromax IN 2b comes in two memory variants 4GB RAM + 64 GB Storage and another one with 6GB RAM + 64GB Storage. For most users, the phone should work flawlessly while doing routine day-to-day tasks such as internet browsing, social media, watching videos, calls, and messages without giving any major problems or lag issues to the user and keeping them satisfied. I have high hopes from the IN 2b and only time will tell how it performs in the long run. Let’s now take a look at other amazing features that make IN 2b the best device in the price range.
Design and features
IN 2b at first glance looks quite similar to the IN 1b but now comes in a new design and colors. The phone is made out of polycarbonate and comes in three colour options to choose from namely, Blue, Green and Black. The front of the phone is covered in glass which protects the 6.52″ HD+ 20:9 Aspect ratio display. Micromax says that this display can achieve a max brightness of 400 nits which is a nice addition in this price range. The right frame of the phone has volume buttons and a power key while the left frame has a slot for taking two sim cards and a dedicated slot for a micro SD card. There’s nothing at the top of the phones while the bottom frame has cutouts for the mic, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The back of the phone has a Dual Camera setup a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a loudspeaker grille is at the bottom. Micromax claims the unlock speed of the IN 2b is 185% faster than the competition in this price segment. IN 2b takes just 350ms to unlock using the fingerprint scanner and just 250ms if you use Face Unlock. There’s also an IN logo printed on the lower half of the phone. The phone also comes equipped with most of the basic important sensors such as Accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensor. With the IN 2b, we can say that Micromax has focused on all minute details such as giving a proper 3 card slot, the inclusion of multiple sensors, switching to a Type-C port from ageing micro USB which all don’t sound much of a game-changer on paper but actually help with the overall user experience. Micromax has also included Bluetooth 5.0 and support for 5Ghz WiFi and VoWiFi which again is a useful addition for a phone in this price segment.
To keep the phone running and allowing the user to get the most from their phone, Micromax IN 2b comes with a 5000mAh battery and a 10W charger in the box. The battery is big enough to easily last most users for a full working day without a need to recharge the battery in between. Batteries add to the overall weight of the phone and I am of an opinion that 4500-5000mAh batteries are more than enough. Coming to the charging time, IN 2b should get fully charged in about 4 hours from 0-100 with the pre-bundled 10W charger. As per Micromax, on a single charge IN 2b can give 3 days of backup and 45 days of standby. Users can enjoy either 160 Hrs of Music Playback, 20 Hrs of Web Browsing, 15 Hrs of Video Streaming and 50 Hrs of Talk Time on their Micromax IN 2b on a full charge.
Clean Software free from Bloatware and Ads
One of the best things about the Micromax IN smartphones is the clean software experience that’s free from ads and unwanted bloatware. Just like all other IN smartphones, the IN 2b comes with a stock Android UI with minor customizations done by Micromax to improve the user experience and I am sure users will really like the clean Android UI that’s free from all the unwanted clutter and pre-installed apps. Nokia and Motorola are the only two major brands currently offering a clean interface on their phones and Micromax is the only local brand following this consumer-friendly route. Micromax has managed to offer great specifications while also offering a clean software experience at the same time which is an important thing to be noted as most smartphone brands these days bring the cost of their phones down by showing ads in the UI as well as preinstalling too many unwanted apps on the phone which leads to a messy looking phone and a bad user experience in general.
Micromax IN 2b comes with Android 11 out of the box and Micromax has guaranteed to provide software updates for two more years. Unlike other brands which keep pre-installing 3rd party apps through OTA updates, Micromax has a record of not bundling such apps via OTA updates on IN smartphones which again is a positive if you are considering this phone or any other IN smartphone.
Imaging with Pro Mode
Micromax IN 2b comes equipped with two cameras at the back with an LED flash. The main camera is 13MP in resolution with an f1.8 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12um (microns). The sensor used is the Samsung ISOCELL 3L6 which also comes with PDAF for faster focusing. The camera also supports RAW capture which would be useful for users who like to edit their photos before sharing on social media. IN 2b can record 1080p videos at 60fps which is the max supported resolution. The secondary camera is a 2MP depth sensor to assist in clicking portrait photos. At the front, there’s a 5MP camera for clicking selfies which also supports Portrait mode to give that background bokeh.
Coming to the features, the rear camera supports Panorama, Burst Mode, Time Lapse, Face Beauty and there’s an inbuilt QR Code scanner too. There’s also a Night mode that should provide you with useable photos even under dark situations, For those who like to take controls in their hand, Micromax has also provided a Pro Mode which allows users to control different camera settings like ISO, Exposure, Shutter Speed, Manual Focus and White Balance. The phone can also record slow motion videos at 120fps.
