Micromax IN 2b Launch Details

With every passing day, not only are we getting closer to the launch date of the upcoming Micromax products, but we are also getting hints about the features that the new devices will have. Well, that is how the last ten days were when the company was treating us with not-so-direct teasers on its social media handles.

Today’s post was obviously unlike the previous ones. It gave us a sneak peek of the device from sideways alongside the camera bump. That is not all, as the caption said that we would also get to feast our eyes on the first look of the device. Soon the company followed up with a surprising post on its community forum, which revealed that the upcoming phone is none other than the new Micromax IN 2b. And yes, that is the first look the company was talking about earlier in the day.

The video showcases the design of the new device from almost every angle. The back of the smartphone has a few aesthetic changes compared to its successor, IN 1b. The smartphone is doing away with the dual-tone purple color option and also has a 3D textured back. Micromax IN 2b will be available in three shades, i.e., Black, Dark Blue, and Dark Green, through Flipkart and Micromax’s website.

It also seems to be missing out on the Google Assistant hardware button, while the power and volume buttons stay on the right side. At the front, it has the “Mini-Drop” notch and a considerable amount of bezel at the bottom. The rear camera module houses vertically arranged two cameras and a flash. The positioning of the IN branding at the back is similar to the IN Note 1 and IN 1. The fingerprint scanner and the speaker grille also remain at the back.

As if that was not enough, the company went ahead and put up a teaser page on the official site, which details the launch timing, battery, and processor specifications. On opening the teaser page, the first banner reads that the Micromax IN 2b will go live at 12 PM (noon) on July 30. The subsequent banners emphasize the processor’s performance, with the device showing the AnTuTu score, i.e., 176847. Going by that picture, the phone will have a 6.52-inch display and a 5 MP front camera, which seems an outright downgrade.

Anyhow, the company says the performance of the processor will be 45% better than the competition. Micromax is refraining from mentioning the processor’s name officially. However, it does say that the GPU is Mali G52, which will give “30% better graphics performance” as opposed to the competition.

If Geekbench is to be believed, then both the IN 2b and IN 2c will have 4 GB of RAM and be powered by Unisoc’s T610 platform, which uses the Mali G52 as the GPU. The processor can support a display resolution of up to FHD+ and up to 32 MP rear camera alongside Bluetooth 5.0 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

Anyways, back to the teaser page. The fingerprint unlock speed on the device should be “185% faster” than the competition. Micromax concludes with the 5000 mAh battery that will be enough to power the device for 160 hours of music playback, 20 hours of web browsing, 15 hours of video streaming, and 50 hours of talk time on a single charge.

That was almost a mini launch. For now, the specifications and the numbers look attractive for Micromax’s #NoHangPhone that it will call the IN 2b. The company also confirmed that the first IN branded “Air Funk” True Wireless Earbuds will accompany the phone on July 30. Micromax is leaving no stone unturned to hype this launch event. We might also get the first look at the TWS earbuds in the coming days.
