Micromax has planned its return to the Indian smartphone market and hasn’t left any stone unturned to grab as much attention from as many Indians as possible. From teasing products on social media to roping in big Youtuber like Technical Guruji to give an exclusive 1st look of the upcoming IN smartphones ahead of the official launch, Micromax has made enough noise now to stay in the minds of young Indians. The launch event is planned for 3rd November and will be live-streamed at 12 in the noon on different social media channels of the company.
We are extremely excited about the new IN line of smartphones and all set to deliver all the information to you readers once the devices go official but for now, let’s see what we know about the upcoming products and what I think can we expect from Micromax’s IN smartphone range.
Design and Build:
We already know the back panel has a shiny and attractive colour shifting X Pattern design and also got a glimpse of the phones in a recent Technical Guruji video. Micromax also shared another image with three phones in three different colour options (Blue, White and Green) showing the sides. From the image, it is clear that there are just two IN smartphones coming. The phones on the left and right look the same and the one in the centre is another model which could be the higher specced device powered by MediaTek Helio G85. The power and volume buttons help in identifying the different phones due to different position of placement.
Another interesting thing to notice from the image is the design of the phones. The phone on the left has a back panel that curves till the front without any cut which suggests it could be a plastic unibody construction and there is no glass used. So, no glass sandwich design which again is a big plus when it comes to durability. This most probably is the lower end IN smartphone powered by Helio G35. The phone in the centre which is the higher-end device of the two can be clearly seen having a separate frame in chrome finish and the back panel sits on top of it. The materials of the frame and back panel are a mystery but I expect the construction to be plastic unibody on this one too. There’s a camera bump on both the devices and we have also seen the rectangular camera housing of the devices.
Thanks to the exclusive video of the devices we now know that one of the phones has a punch hole camera right at the centre of the display at the top. Another image shared by Micromax (image below) also shows a separate button on the left side of the device just below the sim tray. This could very well be the Google Assistant key and I hope it can be remapped to do some other task as well.
Before moving on to the hardware part let’s see what we might get in terms of software experience as it is the most important part of any phone. Good software can even run well on not so powerful hardware. One thing we definitely know about the software is it won’t have any kind of ads or unnecessary bloatware which give a very bad user experience. Micromax has confirmed they will use stock Android UI for the IN line of smartphones. I am not sure if the upcoming IN smartphones will be Android One devices or not but it would be much better if Micromax chooses the OnePlus like route and slowly improves their version of stock Android. They have previous experience with YU smartphones which came with unlockable bootloaders and the developer community was huge. I expect the same to happen this time again with IN line up and a possibility to unlock the bootloaders will bring a lot of attention from the modding community as well. This will be an interesting area to watch out for and see what Micromax does.
I understand most of you are highly interested in knowing what the hardware specifications of the upcoming IN smartphones will be so without adding in more lines I would directly list the specifications I expect to see in both these smartphones.
